Tŝideldel Development Corporation (TDC) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of a transformative project that is not only changing our local economy but also improving our community's infrastructure and providing employment opportunities.

Project Overview:

In May 2022, we embarked on a mission to diversify our local economy and provide essential materials for infrastructure and housing projects. Our vision was to create a sustainable business venture that would align with our core values and enhance the quality of life for our community members. The Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) developed by the Government of British Columbia provided financial support to Phase I of the project in March 2023. TDC is pleased to have had that level of confidence and support from the Province.

Key Milestones:

  • Acquisition of vital equipment including a portable screen plant, front-end wheel loader, small packer, and gravel truck.

  • Clearing vegetation and topsoil from the gravel pit area.

  • Production of gravel and aggregates for on-reserve usage in a major project.

Impact on Our Community:

The completion of these milestones allowed us to launch our gravel and aggregates business, Tŝideldel Aggregates L.P., which has had a profound impact on our community. We are thrilled to report that the materials produced in our new pit played a critical role in a $7.5 million road improvement project on IR#1, enhancing transportation within our community.

Achievements:

  • Strengthened our local economy, diversifying employment opportunities.

  • Supported a major road improvement project, improving accessibility for our residents.

  • Demonstrated our commitment to environmental responsibility through comprehensive assessments and mitigation measures.

Future Prospects:

This project sets the stage for future growth and prosperity with Phase II of our project: a mobile concrete batch plant. The locally sourced materials will continue to support community infrastructure projects, housing initiatives, and road improvements. We remain dedicated to fostering pride, creating opportunities, and strengthening our economy.

We are grateful for the support and partnership that made this project possible. Our businesses are expanding, and we're excited about the future.
